Here are some guidelines which can help you choose the best school possible for your CNA training classes.
Guidelines:
Look for a school which is dedicated to giving students the best training possible. The school should focus on educating the student so that they in turn can give the best possible care to their patients when they become CNAs. CNAs play a major role in a person’s well being. The goal of training is to equip students with knowledge when it comes to providing short term care and long term care for people living in assisted facilities hospitals, hospices and many more.
The school must be approved by your local state of board of nursing. Under federal regulations, schools are also required to hire teachers for CNA training classes who have at least 2 years of experience as a nurse and at least a year of experience in long-term care. Instructors must also have a completed course in teaching adults and the supervision of nursing aides.
Visit the school and discuss the program with the person in charge. Observe the students. It would also be very helpful if you can observe a class or two so you can get an idea of how they teach their students. If you have questions, do not hesitate to ask. You should know what you are enrolling in. interview students and teachers. They can give you insights on the course and the students can tell you how effective the instructors are.
Guidelines (con't.)
Do not just rely on what the administrators have to say about their school. Search the school on the Internet. Look for important information such as the pass arte of the students. This says a lot about the school and its teachers. Look for a school which has a high pass rate, a high pass rate means they are doing something right because their students are passing. Steer clear of schools which have low passing rates. Make sure that the school says “Approved State Board Exam”. This means that the school will perform the registration in behalf of students and they will also provide the exam results in as little as 2 days.
Check the laboratory of the soil. Make sure that they have the latest equipments used in hospitals today. It would be useless to undergo practical training in the laboratory only to find out that these things are obsolete and are no longer used in hospitals. Check the textbooks and other materials used in the classroom. They should not be more than 5 years old. The textbooks should give adequate example of practice standards with documentation. Students should not be provided with overviews only.
Some of the best textbooks are those which come with CDs. CDs can be used by students at home to review and to practice the skills they learned in school.
Check the cost of the CNA training classes. Some schools have hidden fees which surprise students. Make sure that the school you are eyeing does not have this. If it is too good to be true, stay away from it. Cheap schools might give you nothing but cheap training and you would want that.
If you enroll in an excellent school, you will get excellent training and you will pass the certification. Once you get your online CNA certification, you will get a job.
