Factors Which Drive the Growth of the CNA Industry

One of the major factors in the increasing demand for CNAs today is the continued rise of the elderly population not just in the United States but in other countries too. The average age of people is going up. Soon enough this people will need care and medical attention which mist o their families will not be able to provide. When this time comes, they will need the services of a nursing aide. This is where CNAs come in.

Elderly people spend a lot of time in hospitals, hospices, day care centers and other medical facilities. These medical facilities are the single largest employers of CNAs worldwide. Tasks of CNAs in these facilities include basic care of patients and many more. CNAs who work in long term jobs are mostly employed to look after patients who cannot care for themselves for a variety of reasons.

The recent economic crunch was also a major factor. Lots of patients were no longer able to afford long hospital stays so they opt to be discharged. Patients who are not in critical condition are looked after in hospitals by nurses. They can save some money when they go home to recuperate and hire the services of a nursing aide instead.

The Future of CNAs

The demand for CNAs is projected to increase and because of the high demand for CNAs, the pay will also increase. Compared to other entry level positions, this job is considered high-paying by many. People, who have taken CNA training programs and are working as CNAs, can be assured that they will have a job and a good income for years to come. They need not fear losing their jobs and being unemployed for long periods of time. Even if the economy takes a dive, people will still pay good money to get medical care.

What Affects Your Salary as a CNA

There are many things that can affect a CNA’s salary. Let us discuss them one by one. The degree or certification of a CNA is just one of the things which can influence his or her pay. Aside from the main CNA training program itself, there are other additional trainings which can be taken to improve one’s standing as a CNA. This also increases one’s salary. If you are aiming for a higher position, you should also train further and take some additional courses.

Experience is also another factor. CNAs who have extensive experience can also command higher salaries than those who are new in the job.
